Is a Celebrants Group needed?
The HCA has been formed because of the dissatisfaction many Celebrants feel towards longer-established humanist, non-religious groups, associations and societies in failing to promote to the fullest extent the alternatives to traditional religious ceremonies on a local level.
Many humanists groups, some of which were established over a hundred years ago, have concentrated their efforts to promote humanism on a political level, and have paid only cursory attention to those concerned with the promotion of humanism in daily, ordinary life in areas in which Celebrants & Humanists reside. Such long-established groups also seem to concentrate on fund-raising rather than the daily concerns of its members, particularly Celebrants, who are the frontline ‘Ambassadors’ for the humanist cause.
A Challenge ….
It is a sad fact that almost all humanist Celebrants have been told by attendees of their services that they never knew such alternative ceremonies were available.
It is also a sad fact of life that many funeral directors today are not aware of any organisation that would provide them with contact details of non-religious Celebrants.
We challenge any experienced humanist Celebrant to correct this statement if they know it is an error.
It is this lack of promotion of humanist Celebrants services on a local level that the HCA seeks to redress.
How much money do Celebrants make?
No humanist Celebrant worth his or her salt conducts secular ceremonies with the sole intention of making it a lucrative business or profitable sideline.
As a general rule it is something they find a great deal of satisfaction and value in providing as a personal service to their fellow human beings.
A Growing Demand ...
The HCA associates provide dignified and satisfying ceremonies for people with no religious beliefs.
Although we provide for non-religious Civil Partnerships, Weddings, and Baby Naming/Welcoming ceremonies, the bulk of our service is providing funeral services without religious connotations.
The need and demand for such ceremonies - particularly funeral ceremonies - has increased significantly over the past 30 years or so because the public have become increasingly dissatisfied with irrelevant religious ceremonies - more so when their deceased entertained no religious belief when alive.
The human, family non-religious ceremony provides a truly personalised celebration of the unique life that has ended. Even those with religious beliefs remark how beautiful and meaningful non-religious ceremonies can be!
A Winning Team of Independents ...
The HCA work as a National Network team composed of highly professional individuals providing a service of the highest standards on an independent basis. Each Associate is skilled in working with recently-bereaved families from all backgrounds and they demonstrate empathy and sensitive understanding to construct, with the family’s input, a meaningful, memorable ceremony of final farewell to their deceased loved one.
The public can have absolute confidence in enlisting the supportive assistance from each Associate of the HCA for the standards the HCA require from each Celebrant is second to none. The HCA set high standards: It is an association of experienced celebrants of non-religious funeral, wedding, and baby naming ceremonies.
The HCA was formed to vigorously promote the availability of an alternative ceremony to the traditional, religious one.
Although each Associate is accredited by the HCA and conduct themselves in accordance with the high standards required by the HCA they remain independent. Most Associates of the HCA are members of many other humanist, secular, groups associations and societies.
